A Day of History - June 28 - Part 1 Aunt Sam

History can pop up at any moment. If it does for you, embrace it. You might just find it fascinating and you might just find your relatives may be part of it.
If you read this blog, many of you have met my Aunt Sam. She is a die-hard Dodgers fan from when they were in NY to their move to LA.  I've shared some of her stories on my blog, but recently I was moved to tears because even though her body may be failing her, her mind is not.
This past Friday my sister, Kim, presented her with an old menu from the place she was a waitress at in LA.  OMG! You should have seen her eyes light up when she saw the menu.

This particular menu happened to be signed by one of the Dodgers players: Maury Wills. We questioned her about the player and she remembered him having a "fling" with Doris Day. True or not, my Aunt has a terrific memory, if not the body to go along with it. She loved her Dodgers.
We figure this is somewhere between 1958-1961. There is another signature above that looks like "Finn Wyral" - we haven't been able to determine who this is. Scoured the LA Dodgers rosters and no luck. If any of you who read this come up with a name, please share in the comments.
Aunt Sam says there is an older menu, but we haven't been able to find it. Anyway, check out these prices!

Lessons Learned:
1. Listen to your elders. They have fascinating stories of their lives to tell. Sometimes this is the only thing they cling to in their last years.
2. Part 2 coming soon.

Hoping you have fantastic stories of history from your family,

Featured On

It's really cool to have another site feature your creations on their website. My latest creation to be featured is a set of dish towels I made for my brother-in-law's wedding.  They frequently camp, so I made them fancy dish towels, among other things.
I do hope they use these towels and not save them for display. Life is too short not to use special items.

The designs I used for these kitchen towels came from Embroidery Library. The file I used below is https://www.emblibrary.com/EL/Products.aspx?Catalog=Emblibrary&ProductID=M6213
They have a terrific tutorial for towels at

Embroidery Library is one of my go-to sites for designs for special occasions.
Thank you Embroidery Library. I love your designs. Just wish I had more time.
